The Swedish population gets more and more positive towards the EU. This is shown in a new survey from the SOM institute.
46 percent says that the membership is mostely good and only 29 percent that it is mostely bad. Even among the voters for the Left party and the Greens, there are now a majority in favor of staying in the union. Both these parties officially wants Sweden to leave EU. The Greens will however decide on their next party conference weather they shall change that part of their program.
The Swedes voted yes to EU-membership with a narrow margin in 1994 but a large majority rejected the single currency, the Euro, in another referendum in 2003.
Swedes have been among the most eurosceptical people in the union but now the support for the union is bigger there than in for example Finland and Austria which joined at the same time as Sweden.
