The upcoming wedding between Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling is expected to be the lushest in Swedish history. The costs will reach millions of Euros.

But that is nothing compared to what the event will bring to the Swedish economy.

Only the sales of wedding related products are expected to bring up to SEK 2.5 billions.

It is a not only royalist who are excited by the coming royal marriage. Also for many Swedish companies is this great news.

“We are expecting a wedding frenzy throughout the country and that most retailers in some way or another will try to take part of it”, says Yvonne Ingman at the Swedish Trade Federation to business journal Dagens Industri.

Analysts at the Swedish Trade Federation have calculated that sales of products relating to the royal wedding before, under and after the wedding week can sum up to SEK 2.5 billion.

Also 12 000 extra tourists are expected to visit Stockholm in order to follow the wedding up close, something that will give the local business life around SEK 30 million in extra revenues during the week of the wedding.

But the big winners are the hotels and restaurants in Stockholm. Björn Arnek, analysts at the Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Association, have calculated the extra tourist invasion to be worth around SEK 200 million.

“12 000 extra tourists per day will in large mean a 100 per cent covering on all hotels in the county for seven days”.
