During December the price fall on apartments was in average 11 % in Sweden as a whole. In Stockholm the fall was 3 %.
- The development we have seen during the autumn has continued with a large supply of housing and falling prices said Peeter Pütsep, CEO at Svensk fastighetsförmedling (Swedish real estate) to the daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.
The dramatic price fall is not only seen in smaller communities; also in greater Malmö, Sweden’s third largest city, the prices fell with the national average (11 %). In the city center prices fell with 7 %. One explanation is that a larger proportion of the apartments in Malmö are tenancy rights, which gives individual transactions a higher influence on the overall statistics.
