The number of jobs in the restaurant business has increased substantially since the restaurant VAT rate was lowered in the start of this year.

The number of ads at the Public Employment Service was 3,867 during January, which is 36 per cent more than in January last year, and 40 per cent more than in December, writes daily Dagens Nyheter.

The Government's commitment to cut restaurant VAT is expected to cost SEK 5.4 billion this year. The reform has produced modest results in terms of reduced prices, but thus seems to stimulate the labour market.
