Saab's Gripen is the firsthand choice for Switzerland when it is about to purchase new fighter jets. This is confirmed by Switzerland's Defence Minister Ueli Maurer to business newspaper Dagens Industri. According to Dagens Industri, Switzerland chose Gripen instead of Eurofighter and Rafale.

At the same time a secret report from 2009 has been leaked to the media and this rejects Gripen on all six test-criteria.

"That report is irrelevant, says Eddy de la Motte, the director of exports at Saab Gripen to Dagens Industri.
