Tonight at 8 pm there will be a football derby at Råsunda stadium between AIK and Djurgården (DIF). Both teams are involved in the fight for the league gold which gives an extra dimension to this very derby, even though the matches between DIF and AIK always contains a lot of emotions and prestige. Djurgården-AIK is generally considered the biggest game in northern Europe, only challenged by the Copenhagen derby FC Köpenhamn-Bröndby.
The game is sold out since a couple of weeks and a ticket on the black market was close to one thousand crowns already yesterday. The arena takes 35 000 spectators. Both clubs have problems with so called “category three supporters”, or in every day language, simply: hooligans. This weekend Djurgårdens training facility was vandalised. The pitches were dug up. Since it happened only two days before the derby, the suspicion was directed towards some of the AIK-supporters. Last night someone threw in a smoke bomb in the house where two of AIKs Argentinean players are living. They also sprayed a message on the wall stating that the players were ´whores´. None was injured by the smoke bomb which was of a kind that could not start to burn. Normally before and after derby games there are unrests in different places around the city but the risk for an innocent person to get in their way or get hurt is very small and inside the arena it is normally no serious incidents.
The table is found here, four games remain after today’s derby. The Allsvenskan (Swedish league) is extremely close this year and more than half of the teams still have the chance to win the league. Anyone can see the importance of this match.
