The Swedish ice hockey player Mats Sundin quits playing. The decision was announced at a press conference today.

The 38 year old has been playing in NHL since 1990. Sundin has been playing for Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and, in the beginning of his career, for Stockholm team Djurgården.

He was one of the players in the Swedish team that won the olympic gold in 2006.

Is he considered bigger than Salming in Toronto? Nothing wrong if he is, just curious :-)

Mats is not only the greatest Leaf of all time, but a player with character and class like no other! I saw Mats in his return to Toronto last season (as a Canuck) and it was nice to see him receive the praise he deserves. Toronto loves Mats! Good luck.
