Last year, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm had 1,200 foreign students from outside the EU. This autumn it will be about 240.

Eva Malmström Jonsson, deputy rector at the Royal Institute of Technology, regret the change.

"Our environment will be less international. In the longer term we may need to reduce the number of programs, and also reduce the number of courses that we offer our Swedish and European students."

Nationwide, 1,300 students from outside the EU has paid the fees for autumn.
