In a press release the Swedish Royal Court informs that the Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel is expecting a child. The birth is expected to take place in March of 2012.

No changes in the schedule of The Crown Princess´s public engagements are planned during the autumn of 2011.

This is how Prime Minister Reinfeldt comments the news:

"It is with great pleasure that I have read the news that the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel is expecting a child. You have an amazing experience to look forward too and I want to send my warmest congratulations to you both," Reinfeldt writes in a statement.

"It has long been her dream to become a mother and it's always great to get a dream realized," says Elisabeth Tarras-Wahlberg, marshal of the court and former mentor to Crown Princess Victoria, to the news agency TT.

The Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling, now titled Prince Daniel Duke of Västergötland, married June 19, 2010 after having announced their engagement in February 2009. The couple lives at Haga Palace in Solna, northern Stockholm. As heir-apparent, Victoria is to become the first female monarch in the Bernadotte dynasty.
